Hi
In a research paper that I read, the dependent variable is described as:
"the volatility of future operating income before
depreciation, amortization, advertising and R&D per share deflated by
beginning of period stock price. Specifically, we calculate standard deviations using
data for subsequent five years."
or another definition:
"Standard Deviation of Operating Income per Share over five subsequent years deflated by the beginning of the period stock price."
As I am not confident in my knowledge of English used in research, could anyone please confirm if
my understanding of the dependent variable is correct?
dependent variable year 1= (SD of operating income per share year 2+ SD of operating income per share year 3+SD of operating income per share year 4+SD of operating income per share year 5+ SD of operating income per share year 6) divided by beginning of the period stock price year 1
Thank you very much
