  • Congratulations to Clyde Schechter: 10000 posts!

Congratulations to Clyde on passing the milestone of 10000 posts! (Posts only are counted since the start of the present forum in 2014, so we should add some large number for several years of emails before that.)

It takes only a day or two watching the forum to appreciate the breadth and depth of Clyde's expertise and energy in covering a great range of questions on Stata and statistics -- and in guiding members of all levels from neophyte and newbie to tyro and techie. He also helps, less visibly but crucially, behind the scenes: I have often been guided by his advice in tweaking the FAQ.

Clyde was the first person here to get any orange bars in his profile. The precise rules for orange bars remain utterly obscure, but that alone is a secure place in the history of Statalist.

Clyde hasn't gotten there with a bunch of one sentence posts, either. His answers are generally quite detailed.

He is also quite patient. When I see a garbled message that doesn't use code tags, I generally ignore it or tell them to repost. But Clyde deciphers it and gives an answer anyway.

He is also quite patient with people who need more help -- including people who need more help because they didn't do what he told them to do in the first place.

Great job, Clyde. You are a great asset to the board.

I can only echo Nick's congratulation to Clyde for his relevant achievement.
I am steadily impressed by Clyde's ability in making difficult things clear (and to my shame it is not only a matter of mother tongue!).
      Well done, Clyde!

PS: crossed in the cyberspace with Richard's reply, whose wide expertise often reminds me that inference is not only -regress- or -xtreg-!

I’ve learned a lot, just by reading Clyde’s replies. Oftentimes, his texts are ‘stand alone’ hand outs, so didatic they are.

Now that you crossed the 10,000 barrier, Clyde, please tells us what you can see in the horizon. Nick said there is life as usual, but we wonder whether you both reached a mistic realm, well deserved! 😀
                  Best regards,

                  Marcos

Congratulation to Clyde. Some of us who are Stata learners and who permanently read the many posts of Clyde and of may other talented and brilliant people who relentlessly answer different types of questions from students to professionals in this forum are very grateful to Clyde. Please keep the forum alive. It is very helpful and useful.

I'll second all that has been said. Never mind how many posts, Clyde has always been on point and helpful.
Be aware that it can be very hard to answer a question without sample data. You can use the dataex command for this. Type help dataex at the command line.

When presenting code or results, please use the code delimiters format them. Use the # button on the formatting toolbar, between the " (double quote) and <> buttons.

I add my thanks to every else's. I have long admired the quality and frequency of Clyde's contributions and wondered how he finds the time. He has often made me think more deeply about something I thought I knew pretty well.
