  • labels with CIBAR

I've recently started using - CIBAR - to illustrate various sample data results. It's a package that automates otherwise complicated procedures.

Would it be possible to add some sort of mlabels on the bars in CIBAR?

Are there any good alternatives to CIBAR (display of mean and CI over several groups) ?

One of the CIBAR examples will do for illustrating the problem:

    Code:
    . ssc install CIBAR
    . cibar price, over1(foreign) over2(turn)

stripplot from SSC has various confidence interval options. Its philosophy differs from cibar, I think. Its primary objective is show data, but enhancements possible include confidence intervals for means.

      Dear Nick,
I actually used quite some time with stripplot. The package is great for showing quite a lot of information in a small graph. The main reason I've landed on CIBAR is that I'm often in need of the two over groups (for instance, over(municipality) over(year).

        Jointly or separately?

This wasn't answered, but cibar treats two categorical variables specified as defining groups jointly. stripplot allows approach to the same need with an over() and a by() option.

My apologies for the late answer. Yes, I already tried the over() and by() options for stripplot. The management in my company often prefer to see the groups jointly, as it gives a quick overview of things. For instance, how over(municipalities) compare to each other and how each municipality develops over(year).

OK, but are you still asking a question and if so, what is it?

Yes, I'd still like to put something like blabels on to the CIBAR graphs, indicating the mean value of each bar.

Understood. The people to provide support for cibar are its author and its users. I've never used it.

I added an option to cibar that enables barlabels for the means. The updated version should be available on SSC soon.

Alexander, that's great, thank you very much!
