Difference between xtabond and xtabond2

Hi,
Sorry my basic question but I'm a begginner with stata. Which is the difference between xtabond and xtabond2?
We use the command two-step in order to obtain the two-step GMM instead of the one-step GMM because the first is more efficient?

xtabond is an official command, meaning part of Stata as purchased from StataCorp. xtabond2 is a user-written extension (David Roodman, SJ, SSC).
