  • Fix position of x axis at zero

    Hi all,

I'm trying to produce a very simple graph (see photo) with a few line plots and would like to fix the position of the x axis at y=0. Is there a way to do that? I searched the net extensively but couldn't find an answer to this seemingly simple question ...

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Tobias

A few seconds' search found a thread starting at http://www.stata.com/statalist/archi.../msg00792.html in which my own prejudices are expressed.

One short answer is that Stata makes this hard. It's a matter of taste and judgment whether this is stubborn dogma (which Excel lovers might aver) or sound doctrine (as I believe).

In essence, the easy bit is switching off your x-axis and putting a line at y = 0. The difficult bit is emulating ticks and axis labels. Each tick would have to be a short line and each axis label added text. I'd recommend consider whether adding a line at y = 0 is sufficient as well as tasteful.

On a different note: inserting graphs as .png gives a more readable result than inserting them as photos, as the FAQ Advice does spell out.

Thanks for your comments! It's a shame, but I switched back to Excel which seems to be the easiest solution to that problem.
