To make progress on this subthread from #12 we need Euslaner (= Eric (RIc) Uslaner) to expand on what his data are and what he wants to do.

As explained to all in our FAQ Advice and the prompt to posters, beginners and long-term members alike, a data example and a crisp statement of the problem help mightily.

The question on mlowess at #13 deserves a new thread, as Hemanshu Kumar already pointed out.
