There is scope for deleting posts, but it requires admin intervention. Only yesterday the forum was spammed and the spam fairly quickly deleted, but a very busy person (not me) had to intervene manually.
I didn't see the first version of this, but if you had a question and then found a solution, a much better way to close a thread is to answer your own question. That way others get to benefit from the thread. Or, if your solution is wrong or can be improved on, people can comment.
Otherwise put, a thread once created is not owned by the person who started it and is not just a way for someone to get personal help in public.
