  • Forcing tab twoway to display unpopulated cells

I am creating several twoway tables using tab and keeping the information displayed using the matcell option. However when I have a table that has zero cells through a whole row/column it doesn't display and hence it doesn't extract these data as I need it to. I have looked at fulltab (which only allows a one-way tabulation) and tabout (which also doesn't seem to allow me to force all rows/columns to display). Are there any other options I could consider? Or have I missed something on these ones?

    Many thanks for any suggestions.

    Laura

Download -tabcount- from SSC for one solution.

Could someone please explain how to tabcount? I have a similar problem to solve, but can't for the life of me figure out how tabcount works.

You might find the longer explanation in the original Stata Journal paper helpful.
