spost13 is back!

Long and Freese's spost13 package has found a new home at Stanford! To install it,

net from https://spost.su.domains/

If you already have spost13, even if you have the most current version, I suspect it is a good idea to uninstall it and then reinstall it from Stanford. That way, if there are updates in the future, adoupdate will find them. Otherwise it will keep on checking the now nonexistent Indiana University site. Just type

ado uninstall spost13_ado

Thanks Prof. William. However, it does not work for me. I have tried several times and here is what Stata returned to me:

connection timed out

1) is not a valid URL, or
2) could not be contacted, or
3) is not a Stata download site (has no stata.toc file).

works for me, so I suggest that you consult

help netio

to see what may apply in your case. Another check would be to see what happens with say

ssc desc c

to see whether the problem is generic and to do with the visibility of outside packages to your Stata.

Matthew, works for me too. Besides what Nick says, sometimes problems are temporary (e.g. the Stanford servers are down) and if you try again a few hours later all is well.

Worked for me my M3 mac, although the install was pretty slow. I suspect Richard is right that it might be a temporary site error.

I’m experiencing the same issue—when I run net from https://spost.su.domains/ in Stata, I get a “connection timed out” error.
Then I tried accessing the URL directly via a browser. It leads to a Stanford Domains landing page that says: “Welcome to Stanford Domains! Your domain, spost.su.domains, is successfully hosted and working. You can log in to your control panel to get started configuring your domain.” There’s no Stata installation interface, and it seems to require SUNet credentials, which are typically only available to Stanford students and staff. This makes me wonder whether public access to the package is currently blocked or misconfigured.
At this point, I haven’t found a solution. Have you been able to resolve this on your end? Thanks.

Hi Luli Cao. Just moments ago, I uninstalled and then reinstalled spost13 by following the instructions in #1.

Worked fine for me just now too. As noted in post #4, often problems like this are temporary as a server is down. If problems persist, see Nick's post #3.
