  • Why access speed of statalist and stata.com is much slower than other website

The title has summarized my question. Since I learn Stata, I find its two support website www.stata.com and www.statalist.org have a much slower access speed than most of other websites that I have permission to access.

They both seem fine to me, especially Stata.com. Maybe it is related to your location, or to the types of sites you are comparing.

I second Richard Williams's point about location and, relatedly, the nature of your connection as being an issue. I'm currently in Italy. The internet connection in my rented apartment is not particularly fast and quite frequently Statalist struggles to load at all (by comparison with, say, bbc.co.uk). No problem, however, in my university office using university wifi (or Eduroam). In London, with fast internet connections at home and university, I never have problems loading Statalist.

In India, Statalist has terrible load speeds -- and especially terrible speeds when posting. I say "India" rather than a specific location within it because I have checked from at least 2-3 different (geographically widely dispersed) cities here. And this is despite being on fibre optic connections with 150-300 Mbps speeds (as per fast.com).
