Dear Statalists,
I am trying to find out the historical ciks for companies (identifier: gvkey). I have downloaded the gvkey-cik linking table but found it very difficult to use, as gvkey has a date range and cik has another date range (please see a screenshot of a data sample). For example, gvkey 1002 has a date range between 1968 and 1972 whereas its cik 1306124 is between 2004 and 2005. Please does anyone know how to create a date column, gvkey column, and cik column so I can easily use it in my further analysis? I.e., the data I want would look like below:
I have tried different methods for many days but with no luck. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated!!!
Bernice
