I am a PhD student and new at stata. I am trying to do latent class analysis on discrete choice model. I want to add a likert scale (price consciousness) as membership. There are 3 statement of 7 point likert scale. In that case may I sum the scale and add it as membership or I need to add the average of the scale. I tried both. and the result is different. My question is which one is correct. Please help me.
