  • Descriptive statistics table including 95% confidence intervals and p-value

    Dear Stata users,

I am new to Stata and have been struggling to create a table (descriptive statistics) including 95% confidence intervals and p-values. Using dtable, I was able to create a basic table with total numbers and %, but I cannot use ci or I don't know how to include 95% confidence intervals and p-values.
I have continuous variables such as age and height, and categorical variables also. Thank you.

      Dear George,
Thank you for the link. That's very helpful. It looks complicated...

Regarding p-values, when I generate crosstabs in SPSS, I can choose to include the Chi-Square test to compare categorical variables. It was a quite simple procedure to obtain CI and p-values in one table in SPSS. I assumed Stata would give me a similar table instantly.

          Dear George,
Thank you for the link to the manual. I still don't understand how to make Table 1 including CIs and p-values in a single table by one process. I made a table using dtable which included p-values, and then used svy: tabulate female, column ci format(%7.3f) to get CIs.

Don't think there is a single command. You'll have to collect stats across multiple commands.
