  • breaking line within keep command

    Hi to everyone and thanks in advance for the help.
    i want to separate these variables into different lines within the keep command and I have the following code:

    keep country code year /*
    */ LAB_QI CAP_QI LAB /* Growth accounts
    */ EMP H_EMP GO GO_PI II II_PI VA VA_PI /* National accounts
    */ K_GFCF Ip_GFCF Kq_GFCF Iq_GFCF /* Capital accounts - all assets
    */ Ip_CT Ip_Cult Ip_IT Ip_OCon Ip_OIPP Ip_OMach Ip_RD Ip_Rstruc Ip_Soft_DB Ip_TraEq /* Capital accounts - price index for investment goods by asset
    */ K_CT K_Cult K_IT K_OCon K_OIPP K_OMach K_RD K_Rstruc K_Soft_DB K_TraEq /* Capital accounts - nominal capital stock by asset
    */ Kq_CT Kq_Cult Kq_IT Kq_OCon Kq_OIPP Kq_OMach Kq_RD Kq_Rstruc Kq_Soft_DB Kq_TraEq /// Capital accounts - quantity index for capital input by asset

    However, the keep command does not work. The same if i use "///" to separate the lines.

    What does "not work" mean here? Please review the FAQ on how to best post questions; include what you have typed, exactly and what Stata did in response (including nothing at all).

    My guess is that you want the last line to be

    Code:
    */ Kq_CT Kq_Cult Kq_IT Kq_OCon Kq_OIPP Kq_OMach Kq_RD Kq_Rstruc Kq_Soft_DB Kq_TraEq // Capital accounts - quantity index for capital input by asset
    Note that I use // for comments not /// which continues the line.
