Import data

Hello,

I have files with .file extension. How can I import them to stata? I tried some options, but they are not working.

.file is a generic extension when Windows doesn't know what it is. Could be near anything, but where you got it might tell you whether it's .csv, .xlsx, .tsv, .txt, or whatever.

You can change the extension to something else just by renaming the file and trying to import it, though I suspect import might ignore the extension.

Or, try to open in Wordpad (or better text editor) or Excel to see what happens. If it's gibberish, it's probably a file from another statistical program.
