  • 30th UK Stata Conference, 12–13th September 2024

You are warmly welcomed to attend the 30th UK Stata Conference. For details, please see the conference website.

This is the first call for presentations. Please submit your abstract at www.timberlake-conferences.com/submit-presentation before Friday 31st May 2024.

The conference will be held in-person in the heart of London, at LSE’s Marshall Building (44 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, WC2A 3LY).

30th Anniversary of the UK Stata Conference
The UK Stata Conference is the longest-running series of Stata conferences and 2024 marks 30 years of this conference! To celebrate this milestone, we have some exciting keynote speakers lined up (to be announced). We are also excited to introduce the option to present a poster, which to be presented in ‘lightning’ talks. There is a prize for the best poster by an early-career researcher.

    About the UK conference:
    • Experience what happens when new and long-time Stata users from across all disciplines gather to discuss real-world applications of Stata.
    • Everyone who is interested in using Stata is welcome!
    • The meeting provides Stata users with the opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences, and information on new applications of Stata.
    • For proceedings of previous Stata conferences, in the UK and elsewhere, see here.
    • Representatives of StataCorp will attend and we have some fantastic keynote speakers lined up (to be announced).
    • The scientific organisers are Tim Morris (University College London), Rachael Hughes (University of Bristol), and David Vincent (David Vincent Econometrics).
    • Logistics are organised by Timberlake Consultants, distributors of Stata in the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, the Middle East and North Africa, Brazil, and Poland.

    Submission guidelines

Please submit abstracts by at www.timberlake-conferences.com/submit-presentation, where you will be asked for the following:
    • Presenter name, email and affiliation.
    • Your preference for a short (15 minutes) or a long (25 minutes) presentation (each to be followed by 5 minutes for questions), or a poster (including lightning talk) presentation.
    • Abstract text, limited to 250 words, preferably without including mathematical notation.
    • References, if any, should be included within the abstract text.
    • Abstract text can be pasted or typed into the submission form or uploaded as a file.

    Presentation topics might include:
    • Discussion of user-written Stata programs.
    • Case studies of research or teaching using Stata.
    • Discussions of data management problems.
    • Reviews of analytical issues.
    • Surveys or critiques of Stata functionality for analysis in specific fields, etc.
The submission deadline is Friday 31st May 2024.

As well as some longer keynote talks (speakers to be announced), we will hold the usual ‘wishes and grumbles’ session at which you may air your hopes, dreams and gripes to Stata developers.

We look forward to seeing you there,
    Tim, Rachael and David
