    You don't say specifically what you want to widen. Inspecting your data, the variables x, y, lat, and lon are constant within name, so there seems no need to widen those. That suggests you want one observation per name, with the value variable widened to a new variable for each date (combination of month and year). If this is what you want:

    Remember, though, that wide data sets like this are not generally useful for data management or analysis in Stata. Unless you know you will be doing things that Stata does best with wide data, you would be better off leaving the data as you have it.
