I am interested in the changing trends in international collaborations among firms.
My prediction is quite simple:
(1) during the era of increasing globalization, firms will actively collaborate with foreign firms where we examine less clustering in terms of national values.
(2) during the recent trend of deglobalization, firms will now collaborate with firms with similar national values. As a result, we will see certain clusters (centered around perhaps U.S. and China) forming in the international collaboration dyads.
My question is, what analytical tools should I use to examine such trends? I'm guessing clustering analysis may be of use, but I cannot find much studies that take a similar approach.
Any advice, help, or input would be greatly appreciated.
