IT help for updating STATA software and installing STATA 18

Hi there,

I was hoping another Stata-on-Mac user might be able to help me figure this out. I have a Macbook with IOS 11.6. I also have enough space on my computer to download the Software for Stata 18.

For some reason when I get to the installation, I get a message that "stata 18 can't be installed on this disk. the contents of this disk cannot be changed". Sorry about the largeness of the image but I attached a screenshot.

Anyway, I have a modern enough operating system and enough space. Has anyone encountered this problem before?

PS I am aware of the data rules for showing data using dataex, but I wasn't sure what the customs here for this, I apologize if there's something wrong with my post.

Dataset examples don’t apply for these types of questions, naturally.

Not a Mac user and forgive the (seeming) silliness of the question: are you selecting the correct installation destination at this page (your harddrive)? Another thing might be to consider if you need admin/super user privileges to perform the installation.
