Histogram, controlling for year fixed effects

Hi,

I want to plot a histogram of starting wages of some employees. However, I would like to account for the year FEs when I do so.
How can I do that?
Would it work to run a regression of starting wages on i.year and save and deduct the fixed effects from the starting salaries?
