Panel data, Hausman test for a single year

Hi there

Would anybody be able to help me with an issue I'm having trying to run a Hausman test? I have a set of data which is only for one year, although I am told that is still ok for panel data. I want to run a Hausman test to justify my use of fixed effects over random effects, yet when I try to set my data as panel data it brings up the following error message "repeated time values within panel" which brings me to think I am not able to run this test having data for only one year. Is this the case?

welcome to this forum.
iIf you have one way of data only, you are dealing with a cross-sectional dataset.
You may have a panel data only if you are dealing with more than one wave of data during the same year.
If that were the case, just -xtset- your dataset with -panelvar- only to fix the issue.
