  • Question regarding statistical tests

    Dear all,

I have one question regarding types of statistical tests that I could apply to test my hypothesis.

My sample consists of two groups of countries(more exactly companies from those countries), group A --> countries from EU; group B --> countries non-EU. Additionally I have an event X that happened in year Y but only for group A. My hypothesis is that the dependent variable Z has improved for group A after the year Y compared with group B (before an after year Y) and group A (before year Y).

I prepared a dummy variable that equals 1 if the company is from group A after year Y and 0 otherwise. But at this moment I am confused about the tests that i can employ to test my hypothesis.

If you could help me with some ides, at this moment I'm thinking to use a regression analysis (my data are panel data) or some tests that could reveal if there are difference in medians or means.

    I will appreciate any suggestion/response.

    Many thanks for your support!

    Catalin:
I'd take a look at -xtdidregress-.
    Kind regards,

This sounds like a difference in difference design, so what Carlo proposed, or -didregress- can be options here.
