Issue with command bar

Everytime i type something into the command bar, it is written in the results bar with a number before it
e.g. if i type summarise cost, in the results tab it does not come up with a summary statistic but with 4. summarise cost

You likely started to write a loop and forgot to close it with parentheses. Just enter } by itself, press <enter>, which will close the loop, generate some errors, but then let you get back to using Stata interactively.
