Return code r(9211) following merge

Hoping someone can help me with the following. I try to run the code:

merge m:1 file using IndustryCodesCrosswalk

which fails without indicating an error, but with the return code r(9211). Clicking on the return code results in a popup with the message "No entries found for search on "r(9211), local".

I have tried searching the forum and other locations but this return code doesn't seem to show up anywhere. Hoping against hope someone may have encountered this before.

From page 199 of the Stata Programming Reference Manual ([P] Programming (stata.com)):

"9xxx. Various messages, all indicating an unexpected system failure. You should never see such a message. If one occurs, save your data, and exit Stata immediately. Please email [email protected] to report the problem."
