  • Interpreting coefficients with log(per capita) dependent

    Hi all,
    I'm working in a 2SLS-Panel of 10 years at NUTS-3 level (county/provinces).
My dependent is the logarithm of patents per capita of each province: log[(patent / pop)*1000]
I have several controls, all at share.

    A) As explanatory (the one I am interested in reading) I have:
the share of national migrants (inflows) among the population of the receiving province [(International Migrants / pop)*100].
the share of international immigrants (inflows) among the population of the receiving province [(International Migrants / pop)*100].

How should I read the coefficients?

With the international ones I get higher coefficients (because there are fewer individuals).
    Coefficients Inter-regional migration: 3,590
    Coefficients International migration: 36.95

    B) If I do migrants per capita instead [(Migrants/pop)*1000] I get:
    Coefficients Inter-regional migration: 0.3590
    Coefficients International migration: 3.695

How should I read whether the situation is A or B?

    Thank you
