  • Problem when trying fe regression

    Hello everyone,

    My topic is: the effect of warfare on the formation of fiscal capacity. I have some countries and I observe them over time. The data set is panel data. I want to do the regression of fiscal capacity on war casualties, army size, population density ect but stata tells me when I do the regression that there are no observations. I destringed them to mention. What do you think is the problem? Do I have colinearity? What should I do?

    I have the excel file attached.

    Thank you in advance, thanks for checking it out.

    please note that, due to the risk of downloading active contents, opening a spreadsheet is clearly hazardous (and avoided).
    In addition, you can use -dataex- to share an excerpt/example of your dataset. Thanks.

      How do I do that?

      And I tried running xtreg fsccap armysize warcas avgtrade popdensity1700 cloddeathsqkm1700_88, fe and then I got the error no observations r(2000);

      Is something wrong with the data? As I said I destringed all variables with the destring command.

      And I am running Stata 17.0 SE.

        see -help datatex-.
        I guess that all your predcitors are time-invariant and/or you have one wave of data only.
        Kind regards,
