I'm currently working on my thesis and in particular the data analysis. While running my factor analysis, out of 7 variables only 1 factor has a eigenvalue above 1 (2.72). The second one is 0.44 and the third one 0.20. The other 4 have a negative eigenvalue. How many factor should I retain? I want to generate a variable combining these 7 variables to use it in a regression, but 7 variables are too many for stata. Could somebody help me?
