  • Factor Analysis using IPF with 7 variables and 4 factors

    Hi Everyone.

I was trying to perform factor analysis using IPF as initial factor extraction, but every time I do it with 7 variables and 4 factors it stops. Picture for reference. Any idea as to why this happens?

Did you click on the blue hyperlink labeled "Heywood case"? (It's right there in the warning that you get every time you tried only three factors.)

      Hi Joseph,

I did press the Heywood case, but my main concern here is that the factor analysis using IPF for 7 variables and 4 factors stops. The picture I attached shows that factor analysis using IPF for 7 variables and 3 factors works, but when I do it with 4 factors it freezes.

I'm guessing that it's not freezing, just futilely iterating. Try this:
        Code:
        factor drink-chronill, factor(4) ipf citerate(25)

Thank you Joseph for the Suggestion. I will use the code you posted here instead of what I was doing earlier
