Hi all,

I need help merging two sets of confidential data and I am not sure who to sure dateex to post a section of edited data
Also is it possible and if yes how do I override my data with fake data on Stata. Any help would be much appreciated

Hi Eli,

I am not sure if I understood well your problem.

I think that if you do not want to show your data you just can change the name of the variables and nobody knows about what is your talking about. Second, if I am not wrong, dataex just give us the first 100 observations of your data set.

On the other hand, I am not sure if your comment is appropiate in this part of the forum. Probably, something with more experience it can help you better.

Diego's advice is good, and more can be said.

The FAQ already states

If your dataset is confidential, then provide a fake example instead.

Since you have reasons to not post real data, you will need to show us similar enough fake data that reproduces the aspects of the data you need help with. Beyond that, we can only suggest that you refer to -help merge- and -help joinby- and study the examples provided therein.
