  • Cannot locate set preferences

I accidentally undid my windows preferences and have been able to restore them, but I can't save them. When I click on edit and general preferences, I don't see an option to save the windows preferences. I have looked at multiple sites and the manuals and can't figure out how to find the set preferences option. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

In my v. 15.1 Windows version, that feature is under the menu item Edit-Preferences-Save Preference Set.

I agree with Mike Lacy. What version of Stata are you using? Please note https://www.statalist.org/forums/help#version

I am using Stata 16. I spent 2 hours going through the manuals and online help and I still can't get the set preferences window to show.

Have you ever (since installing Stata 16) been able to see the "Edit-Preferences-Save Preference Set" choice in the drop-down menu? You might need to do a re-install of Stata. Before doing that, you could try -window menu clear- to restore the menu system to Stata's default (although that should only delete any additions to the menus that you have made, not resurrect items that should always be there).
