CEO tenure from Execucomp data

I am working with Executive characteristics. Using Execucomp data from 1992 to 2019. I need to generate CEO_Tenure (CEO tenure in years at each financial statement date; which is YEAR here)Please help me.

Well, you have to clarify how you want to handle this. There is a problem because your date becameceo is given to the day, but the financial statement date is given only to the year. Now for the first observation, it's easy because Ira Eichner became ceo on 1 jan 1955, so at any time in 1992, his tenure is 7 years.

But look at obervation 7. David Storch became CEO on either 9oct or 10sep 1996 (I can't tell which, none of the dates disambiguate whether they are YMD or YDM--and you'll need to clarify that in your response.) So in 1993 his tenure would be negative. That doesn't make any sense--there seems to be something wrong with this data.

And let's look at observation 11, William Cadogan, who became CEO on 11 Jan or 1 Nov 1991. In 1992, his tenure might be 0 or 1 year depending on when in 1992 the financial statement was dated (and on which of the two possible dates of becoming CEO is the correct reading of this data.)

Finally, most of your observations have only missing values for becameceo, so there is not sufficient information to calculate their tenure.
