  • Graphics not displaying correctly with update to Big Sur

Updated to Big Sur (macOS 11) and now when a graph is created it's entirely gray. If the window is resized or the editor is toggled on and off, the graphics will appear. Exporting appears to function fine, dumping the desired graph

I'm not a Mac user, but you may consider reinstalling Stata to see if that corrects the problem. Otherwise, this may be worth contacting Stata Technical Support for advice.

I just tried it on 3 different Macs running Big Sur and the graphs rendered just fine. Please contact tech support so that we can troubleshoot the problem.

David contacted technical support and we found out that he was using Stata 15. I was under the assumption that he was using Stata 16 which is why I couldn't reproduce his problem. I was able to reproduce his problem with Stata 15 and will investigate. Again, this problem does not occur under Stata 16.

Yes, Sorry about that. I almost wrote a follow-up to clarify. But Support appears to have fixed the problem. Thanks!

Sorry, but it is not clear to me. I am planning to update my Mac with MacOs Big Sur and I am using Stata 15. Will I have any problems? If yes, how do I fix/avoid the problem? Thank you.

I have the same problem using Stata 15.1 in Big Sur. Both Stata and Big Sur are updated to the latest version, but the problem still exists. Could you explain how did you solve the problem? Thanks a lot.

                I have the same problem.
                Big Sur and Stata 15.1.
The graph wouldn´t show, disregarding data or graph type. The only way to see the graph is to click on the "edit" button, and after that one can visualize the graph.
Thanks in advance for any help, patch, or command magic.

I have the same problem with Stata 15.1, Big Sur. I need to click on the "edit" button to visualize the graphs. However, now I can´t even run my syntax. It shows different error messages but mostly this one: "option line not allowed". And I´m trying also with old syntax that I´m sure are correct, with figures that I have even published. I don't know what else to do.

I have the same problem using Stata 15.1 in Big Sur.

Charts won't appear unless I click on the "edit" button, which is quite inconvenient.

No solution yet for this problem?

I apologize for not keeping up with this thread. I emailed technical support and they looked into it and sent me a link to download a fixed Stata application. This did the trick for me. Sorry I don't know any more
