Do-file Editor not showing underscore

Hello!
I have recently changed from Linux Ubuntu to Linux Mint 20 Mate edition.
For some reason I fail to know, the do-editor does not show the underscore character. It just shows space. So I cannot distinguish space from underscore. Other plain text editors (Kate, xed, vim and nano) in this system show the underscore character.
Besides that Stata 16 works fine. What am I missing?

I am using Stata 16 SE on a AMD x86_64 CPU (Linux xcavemint 5.4.0-48-generic).

Which font are you using in the Do-file Editor? To see which font is being used, open the Do-file Editor, then select the Edit > Preferences... menu item to open the preferences for the Do-file Editor.

Thank you for the quick response.
I was using monospace size 10. Just changed to 'Go Mono' (and tried also 'consolas') after saw your response and the underscore is there!
I tried different fonts like the courier new (underscore disappears).
What is the reason for this behavior?

I had similar issues but with font size. When using certain sizes, the underscore disappears (Linux Mint 20) in Stata 16.1.

Oh! Well, in my case the Monospace font does not show the underscore character even if I tried to change to a larger size. I am using Stata 16.1 but I check on Stata 15.1 and the issue is the same. So for now I changed to Liberation Mono (which resembles closely Monospace to my poor sight).

This is old.
But I have to say thank you Stata Corporation. Finally, on the 10may2022 Stata 17 upgrade it came as the 17 item on the list of fixed!
