I am working with Engel curves and I have to replicate this with the information I have. It is clear to me that I must relate the food budget share and the logarithm of total expenditure. To replicate it I have used a scatter and obviously it gives me a graph with many highly condensed points.
In order to replicate this graph, should I handle my data more, in addition to possible controls that I have already added? Should I find an average spending ratio for different income levels?
Also, I think a scatter is not the right one, what graphics commands could you recommend me?
