  • Creating a dummy variable that distinguishes between participants included and excluded in my sample

I want to create a dummy variable called "missing" where a 0 means a participant is included in my analyses, and a 1 means that they were excluded. I have been trying to do this, and I am sure it is so easy, but I can’t figure out the commands. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it? Thanks in advance!

you don't say what your "analysis" was, but many estimation commands save a returned value called "e(sample)" that is exactly what you want - so just make a new variable equal to that directly after the estimation finishes

if you are doing something that does not save this variable, you need to give us more information; please read the FAQ which has excellent advice on asking questions
