  • PVARSOC error(2001)

I work on a PVAR model covering 8 countries with 88 observations. I using stata 15. I'm trying to determine the optimal lag number for my estimates using the commands proposed by Abrigo and Love (2016) dans l'article "Estimation of autoregression of the panel vector in Stata. stata Journal 16(3), 778-804. I use 5 variables. However, by executing the command:

pvarsoc TID IIF INF lCE PIBT, maxlag(4)pvaropts(instl(1/4))

stata tells me that i can not have fewer observation than parameters r(2001).
please, i need help to continue my estimates. Thank you.

If I remember correctly, the number in maxlag(X) should be smaller than the max number in pvaropts(instl(1/Y)). X should be smaller than Y.

hello Monica, thank you for answer. I tried to do what you advised me but the problem is always the same. And that even when I use X = 3 and Y = 5 or 4

I have never used any of these models, but the main implication seems clear. You need to fit a simpler model and/or find a bigger dataset.

Merci Nick and Carlo pour vos réponses. Cependant, que puis-je faire pour résoudre le problème? Lorsque je réduis le nombre de variables, stata me dit que la convergence est incomplète. Je ne sais pas quoi faire avec ce problème de convergence inachevée.
