  • How to convert annual earnings figure to real hourly wage rate

    Hello everyone,

My thesis seeks to examine the migrant wage gap in Ireland. I have obtained the EU-ISLC survey data and observed that the earnings included are on an annual basis. However, I would like to examine the hourly wage rate as against annual income.

Is it possible to convert annual income to the real hourly wage rate? If yes, can you please give an explanation on how to do it.

    Thanks so much. I appreciate

Well, if someone is paid 20k a year, and if you can estimate how many days/hours that person worked, it's a simple division.

If you assume a person worked 260 days a year, and that this person worked 8 hours a day, for an annual salary of 20k: 20000/260/8 = 9.6$ per hour.

Igor Paploski Thanks for your response. However, in the survey, the number of hours worked by the respondents was not expressly stated else I would have done that.

Are there any other ways I can achieve my aim, please?
