I want to calculate the time gained by a maximum likelihood estimator in coming up with an estimation between the case where I only use the programmed gradient or I use both programmed gradient and hessian. It would be useful if I could set a scalar to the date and time at the beginning of the estimation, and one at the end of the estimation and calculate the difference. I have looked into clock() but I am not sure how to pass in the current date time. Is there a -now- function? If not it could be a suggestion to add one.
