First, thank you for teaching me that lines may be sorted in alpha order within Word. I had previously known this to only be possible within Excel.
Second, the built-in do-file editor does have some handy features, but sorting lines and other useful text "macros" are not among them. For these sorts of things, I will often copy/paste into my favourite text editors (among them, Sublime Text, Notepad++), perform the manipulation(s) and then copy/paste back into the do-file editor. It's not very often that I need this to be done, but one is free to pick the "best" (or in this case, most time-efficient) tool for the task.
