View full variable names in the browser

Is there a way by which we can see full names of the variables in the data browser, without formatting them? Currently, my data browser shows abbreviated names, for eg, machinecosthours is displayed as machi~s based on the largest value of the variable in that column.

I'm pretty sure the only way you can get the browser to widen the column to show the full variable name is to change the display format of the variable itself to something wide enough to accommodate the full name.
