  • Getting started with STATA

    Hey there,

I need to write an essay for which I need Stata. To be honest I never had any experience with Stata before so my question is probably on a very low level. My essay is about polarization in US Politics and the Supreme Court. Therefore I want to find out, how the jusitices have voted (if their vote has to be considered as conservative or liberal). I have all the variables I need e.g. justice (name of the justice), direction (direction of the vote) and decisionDate (date of the Decision). And here comes my question: How can I generate a table for each year (starting from 1980) in which I see how each Justice has voted (conservative or liberal). I tried: tab justice direction if dateDecision > 1980 but it didn't work.
I would be really thankful for any help!

    Greetings
