  • Confusion about FE and DID

Hello everyone, this is my first post here so please excuse me if the formatting is not great yet.
I am learning stata through a class in college and I currently have a problem set to complete on fixed effects and difference in differences.

The very first question is just a test of average from two datasets. My first thought was to find the mean and then do a t-test. However, the professor is asking for a regression to test the difference in average. "Test whether these average wages are significantly different in 1950 and 2010, and present these results in a well-labeled table. Beware of missing values and use a regression".
I do not understand what she means by it. Should I join the datasets to create a single one? And then if "wage" is the Y, I do not see what my variables would be in the regression.
All I have to do is present the results in a table, but I do not know how to do this in the to-do file.

    Thank you so much!
    Alex

This sounds like a homework assignment. It is the custom here that we do not provide assistance with homework, because in academic institutions it is generally expected that students will complete their homework individually, or, in some circumstances, in collaboration with a group of other students, but without outside expert assistance.

I suggest you raise your problem with your professor, or a teaching assistant, or, if permitted in your class, a classmate.
