  • Summarized do files: data management

    Dear all,
Can anyone of you share some summarized do files, containing the widely used codes related to data management, manipulation, tabulation, visual inspection, and some basic analysis? As a user of STATA, I realized that sometimes we get in a task, even though we know the solution, but could not retrieve the stata code.
    Thanks.

Welcome to the Stata Forum / Statalist.

I fear there is no "panacea" for such matters.

However, since you are a user of Stata (this is the recommended spelling, not "STATA") , you can easily find the basic commands and costumize to your needs in: a) The Stata Manual (Data Management Reference Manual), truly a hit or miss; b) Video tutorials, particularly the ones from Stata Youtube Channel; c) the Stata blog; d) The Stata Bookstore, among other resources.

By the way, we all learn a lot when going through the process of creating ourselves the codes which suit best our needs.

So, probably the closest that you will find are the "Stata Cheatsheets" created by Tim Essam and Laura Hughes. They are free to download from Stata's website here or Laura Hughes' website. The data processing and data transformation ones will probably be most applicable to your question (they also have them for data analysis, data visualization, programming, etc). (I liked them so much I had my copy center print them out in color on cardstock).

A few other intro resources regarding data management in Stata can be viewed here.

      Hope that helps!
