transparency in points on graph

Hi,

I know there is an option to add transparency to data on a scatter plot in stata 15 but is it possible to do so in stata 14? If not, what are the next best options?

Not in 14. So consider small marker symbols and subdued colours for whatever is not most important.

The idea was to darken the color of points which occur most frequently and lighten it for infrequent ones.

you can try the mcolor option; see

help scatter##marker_options

note that you might need to do this as two overlaid scatter plots
