You are flagging me but I don't know why; sorry, not an economist, never used GMM, never used xtabond2. You have a new question there and should start a new thread with a better title. Your problem is no longer an unbalanced panel!

I have an unbalanced panel dataset in two separate files. In the first excel file I have data for banks financial variables (x1, x2, ..... x15) (this is named and saved as FINANCE.xlsx). In the second excel file I have data for banks social resposinility variables (y1,y2,... y10) (this excel file is named and saved as SOCIAL.xlsx). The unique identifier for both files is Bank Name (I named it as ID). I have data from 2007 to 2017. Can you please let me know how I merge two files (FINANCE and SOCIAL) and make a single master dataset excel file using stata? Thanks

Just an advice: in orde to increase yourc hances of getting helpful replies, please read and act on the FAQ.
It's also advisable to make clear in the signature of your post (so there's no need to repeat it in each post) which Stata release you're working with, as there's a constant evolution across subsequent Stata releases in terms of available commands.

            Mahinda:
a temptative answer, driven by the lack of an example/excerpt of your data (please consider using -dataex-, as recommended by the FAQ. Thanks) is to create a -merge- string with both -ID- and -year- as key variables.
            Kind regards,
