sequence analysis

Hi. I am very new to sequence analysis and I want to use it for my research. I would be grateful if you could help me to be more precise.
I want to see how is the educational trajectory of individuals during for example 20 years. now my question is when I merge several dataset to follow individuals, shall I JUST consider those who exist in all years and omitting those who entered years after or left? do we have syntax for SQ in Stata?
