Export table to excel Error, with tab2xl

Dear all,

When I try to export a table to excel after running a tabulation on variable distance_bin, I get the error below. I was following the instructions on https://blog.stata.com/2013/09/25/ex...bles-to-excel/ and would greatly appreciate any help! I haven't found a similar question and can't seem to figure it out. Thank you in advance.

Command:

. tab2xl distance_bin using test1, row(1) col(1)
Note: file will be modified when putexcel close command is issued

Error Message:

putexcel_set_new(): 3010 attempt to dereference NULL pointer
<istmt>: - function returned error
r(3010);

I've found another (and easier) way to do this using tabout. The corresponding command would be

tabout distance_bin using test1

Thank you. I noticed that this error message appears several times in Statalist discussions and it doesn't seem to me the issue has been solved. I used tabout, saving in ".txt" format, then opening it with Excel and using the "text to column" option.
