  • Second order factor loadings in SEM

Hi, I am running a structural equation model with second order factors as exogenous variables and an observed variable as endogenous. My hypothesis is that my second order latent factor (let's call it L5) is negatively associated with the endogenous variable. L5 is a bigger construct, created from four latent variables - L1, L2, L3 and L4. When I run the model, I observe that my second order factor loadings are negative, while my path coefficient from L5 to endogenous variable is positive. This is exactly opposite to what I am looking for: my factor loadings should be positive and the path coefficient, negative. I am unable to fix this issue. Thank you!

It would be a lot easier to comment on this if you could show us the output.

This is what I get. My second order factor loadings are negative although I specify them as a part of measurement model.
