Please don't mangle your own posts starting a thread, even if you solved your problem yourself or realised that the question was silly. Explain the solution, even if it was trivial. Often someone else will have the same problem.

Harsha, I think you are misunderstanding Nick's point.

The norm in this community is that we do not delete posts at all. If we find a solution to the question posed, we add another post to the thread showing the solution. We do this because Statalist is not a help line; it is a forum. These threads are not just a dialog between you and somebody answering your question. There are other forum members who come here and read along, or search the forum to see if their question has already been asked and answered here. So we want all of the questions and answers to be available to those people.

If the situation is that you got your answer in another thread here, (or even on some other website) the polite thing to do would be to add to this thread a new post including a link to that solution. It would be appreciated if you do that. Thanks.
