Doug Altman is a name that will be familiar to many members of this forum, especially those in medical research & epidemiology. Sadly, Doug passed away on June 3. His long-time co-author Martin Bland posted an announcement to the Medstats forum. You can see it and the follow-up posts here:

Very bad news indeed.
We exchanged some emails some years ago (Doug was really kind in replying) when I asked him for some details concerning https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12589867, an article that I find still inspiring for those who are interested in dealing with missing values.
He will be greatly missed.

Really sad. His texts with Martin Bland are very clear. The short ones (Statistics Notes) from BMJ were always a must read to me.
